Las Vegas Electrical Contractor - Better Service with Flat-Rate Pricing!

PR Log - Apr 15, 2012 - JT Electric is owned and operated by Joe Toro, of Las Vegas, NV. Joe has been in the electrical industry for over 25-years, and his experience has been in the residential and commercial sectors. Over the years, Joe has seen a lot of explosive growth in the electrical industry, but mainly on a large scale. While contractors focused on getting bigger by going after the BIG jobs, the smaller jobs were basically ignored, leaving small business owners and home owners with little choice when it was time to call for electrical service.

Many home owners for example would wait for days until someone showed up, or even worse, if a contractor finally did show up, the problem was either resolved at excessively high rates, or the problem wasn't resolved at all. Home owners were very skeptical about hiring a contractor known for doing large jobs in Las Vegas, because their prices were enormous, but they had little to no choice because the bigger contractors usually hired electricians with the best talent and skills. Unfortunately, these big companies were too busy focusing on the high paying, larger jobs, to accomodate "the little guys" with the smaller jobs.

Business owners shared the same feelings about this as well, trying to find a contractor that would provide one-on-one personal service, without charging too much for a service call or a small installation job. Another concern would be quoting low just to get the job, and being hammered with change orders after the job has begun. This drove up the price substantially, and there wasn't much that could be done about it either. "Whatever happened to the small contractor that everyone knows, that treats everyone right", says Bob Green, (a Las Vegas resident), who recently had a bad experience with a contractor that never came back after trying to fix a problem in his condo. "I'd like to have someone that I can call when these little things happen, without going through a big ordeal of choosing a contractor", says Bob.

"I've seen this time and time again", said Joe Toro, owner of JT Electric of Las Vegas. People just want to have good service at a fair price, without having to worry about who to call, or how they are going to be treated", said Joe. Joe Toro started JT Electric to fill the gap left behind by the larger, well established contractors. "I can't blame the larger contractors one bit", Joe says... "They are large contractors, with large overhead, and they need to pay the bills". Joe says, "Any contractor of sufficient size, with substantial overhead, a good number of employees, and high operating expenses would need to stay in business by finding those big jobs, and there's nothing wrong with that", .said Joe. "But, the small jobs still need to get done, and there will always be small jobs", says Joe. "That is why I started JT Electric".

Joe Toro started JT Electric to focus on small business and residential customers needing  electrical service and repair. JT Electric takes a simple approach, whereby using a Flat-Rate pricing menu to handle nearly every electrical job requested. While most contractors utilize an an expensive estimating program for installations, they usually pick a number (a proposal) that seems fair or adequate at the time to do most service work. That number or quote can change, which means two people with exactly the same floor plan, with exactly the same problem may be charged two different prices to do the same job. Maybe some unexpected problems came up during the first job, and the contractor needs to make up for it on the next, so the price goes up about 20% or so to recover losses. That's understandable to some people, but not to all.

By using a Flat-Rate menu pricing system, the customer is quoted a price, not to exceed, regardless of whatever circumstances the contractor encounters. How ever long it takes JT Electric to do the work, it's not going to change the price. Joe Toro says, "It takes the fear or distress out of the equation". "When a customer is quoted by the hour, the customer starts to worry about the contractor is moving too slow, or having to stop and go to the supply house, or simply takes a break!", says Joe. "They think the clock is ticking and time costs money!", says Joe. Paying a flat rate for the job eliminates all that.

Joe Toro does all the work himself. That said, he doesn't have nearly the amount of overhead, nor the expense of employees as other contractors may have. The Flat-Rate pricing system works well for Joe Toro of JT Electric, because it puts the customer at ease. They know how much the job will cost , before it's even started. If there's any delays in the job, which at times there are bound to be some, the customer doesn't have to pay for it. "I can take my time and do it right", says Joe, "without worrying the customer about dollars per hour". Joe says that it makes for a more comfortable setting and it builds trust. Joe also feels that if an electrician has the experience and expertise, he or she should know what it takes to get the job done. There shouldn't be many surprises if the job was looked over thoroughly prior to starting it, so any mishaps or unforeseen problems is the contractors responsibility, and the home or business owner shouldn't be held accountable for it.

"Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule" says Joe Toro, "but those exceptions should be pointed out ahead of time, and agreed to before making any commitments" .  "An example of which", say Joe,  "would be coming in after someone else has worked on the problem, making matters worse, and now it's my job to figure out what that person did, so I can make it right" said Joe. "Most times we (electricians) know what to look for, but we are not magicians", says Joe. "We also need to be fair and reasonable depending on the situation, and customers would generally agree".

Joe also feels that every customer should be treated as if their job or service request is just as important to him, as it is to them. JT Electric aims to do just that, and no customer should be treated differently just because their job is worth a few hundred dollars compared to one that is valued at a few thousand. Most of the work referred to JT Electric is through word of mouth. "When a customer is treated right by JT Electric, it's nice to have a referral", says Joe Toro. "I like building my business this way".
