CHARLES, MO, May 22, 2012--Missouri Attorney General Candidate Ed Martin issued a video statement today condemning the use of red-light cameras and vowing to take action against them if elected. Mike Carter, candidate for Missouri Lieutenant Governor, has been a long-time vocal opponent of red-light cameras, and announced his partial approval of Ed Martin's message.

“Martin misses the mark in his YouTube release and states the obvious -- that he disapproves of the tyranny of ‘pay to play government;’ come on, really? Sadly, everyone suspects that is what continuously goes on in Missouri Politics,” said Carter.
Carter says what’s much more important are Martin’s other SAGE insights in the video:
I don’t support red-light cameras. I believe that there should be concerns about personal privacy, about the use of a photograph to enforce a police infraction . . . [it’s] deeply offensive when a for-profit company is using our policing powers to act against the citizens of our state.
“Now that’s a home run. Many, many politicos are WAY TOO politically timid to address these issues head on. Thank you Mr. Martin; however, don’t bother us with the disingenuous stuff about ‘pay to play,’” quipped Carter.
Carter says that Missouri voters must take notice of these governmental intrusions and take action now before they creep further into our lives. There are other ways to protect the safety of our streets without handing over police powers to private entities.
Carter is an Independent-minded Republican candidate who has cast votes for Ross Perot and Ron Paul. He is a former judge, real estate attorney, Senior Lecturer for the University of Missouri, corporate counsel, and Director at the St. Louis Board of REALTORS. He supports Ron-Paul politics, non-partisan elections, advocates smaller government, abolishment of irresponsible spending, and a ban on unnecessary governmental intrusion into the private lives of citizens.
