Eakes, Brier and DePaiva - Daytime “Divas” Sing Out Coast to Coast

PR Log - May 31, 2012 - Palm Springs, CA - Three of Daytime Television’s most popular female stars, Bobbie Eakes (http://www.bobbieeakes.com/), Kathy Brier (http://www.kathybrier.com/) and Kassie DePaiva (http://www.kassiedepaiva.com/) are getting together for three special shows in California and the East Coast.

With combined credits that include Broadway, Daytime Emmy nominations and solo albums and cast albums, “The Divas of Daytime” are coming together for three special performances.

"The Divas of Daytime" have been performing together for nearly five years. “I got the idea for the trio when I was living in New York doing All My Children,” said Eakes, who wanted to put a vocal group together to give fans an opportunity to see them in a different light. “I had also sung with both Kassie and Kathy in duet situations and was blown away by their talent.” The evening will bring a blend of DePaiva’s strong Country background and Brier’s powerful, soulful voice together with Eakes own jazzy, R&B style. The Palm Springs show will be the group’s West Coast debut.

“The Divas of Daytime” kick off on June 2nd in Palm Springs, California at the Palm Canyon Theater at 7 pm. VIP tickets quickly sold out. Lucky VIP ticket holders will get a meet-and-greet with the performers after the show. General Admission tickets are still available for $35 at the Palm Canyon Theater web site,  http://www.palmcanyontheatreonline.info/

During their Palm Springs visit, The "Divas" will be performing a song at the re-dedication of Marilyn Monroe's star (#54) on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars, Friday, June 1 at 11 am at 101 S. Palm Canyon Drive.  Scheduled guest speakers include actress and comedienne Carol Channing (Hello, Dolly!) and actor George Chakaris (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes).

After the fundraiser at the Palm Canyon Theater, the trio heads to the East Coast where their other performances are scheduled for Saturday, August 11th at The Brokerage in Long Island and Sunday, August 12th at Uncle Vinnie’s in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.

Because the three are best known for their acting, especially given that all three have been nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards, one might be surprised to learn they have laudable musical credits as well. Brier’s extensive musical resume includes playing the lead role in Hairspray on Broadway prior to creating the role of Marcie Walsh on ABC’s One Life to Live. After roles in the late 80’s on The Guiding Light and in the 90’s as Blair Cramer on ABC's One Life to Live, DePaiva recently released her third CD “I Want to Love You,’ a 14-song album getting “back to the basics of country” music.

Eakes, a Palm Springs resident, most recently performed as Krystal Carey on ABC’s All My Children, and has two CD’s, the latter of which debuted at No. 21 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz charts.
