PR Log - Jun 05, 2012 - SportsArc CEO, Brendan Kirsch has confirmed that his company and Snag Films have entered a partnership that will give digital distribution rights for the award-winning film, "The Hopeful" to Snag Films through 2015.

"The Hopeful", which is shot as a true documentary, (reality vs. retrospective), follows the two year journey of a high school quarterback, Cody Keith, as he attempts to earn a BCS college football scholarship.  After moving to three different schools in as many years, Keith and his family came under scrutiny in his hometown of Charlotte.  The story reached Kirsch, who was in Wilmington, (North Carolina), finishing up a sports coordination contract on the television series, "One Tree Hill".

"Being three hours from Charlotte, I was aware of the story", Kirsch said in a company statement on Monday, "and thought it would make an interesting documentary.  Never did I imagine it would unfold they way it did and become national news."  Kirsch went on to say, "...(We) loved 'Hoop Dreams' and wanted to make the football counterpart.  I believe we were successful in doing that."

The film gained national attention when Keith threw for 700 yards and 9 touchdowns in one of his final games at a prep school in Connecticut.  After heading into his senior year with zero scholarship offers, Cody became one of the most highly recruited quarterbacks in the country, all of which is captured in the documentary.

"This is truly one of the best sports documentaries I've ever seen", said ESPN's Dan Dakich in a radio interview with Kirsch.  "My son and I couldn't take our eyes off the screen.  It's an epic journey that captures the audience and takes them along for the ride."  A statement so powerful, SportsArc has included it on the official movie poster.

"The Hopeful" was an official selection in ten film festivals, winning awards in all of them, including "Best Documentary" and "Audience Choice" six times.  The film will be released on Video On Demand, Netflix, iTunes, Hulu and other digital platforms in September of 2012.

The agreement, which was executed on Monday, June 4th, is said to leave DVD distribution rights in the hand of SportsArc, who is currently in discussions with a number of DVD acquisition companies on who will handle that portion of the release.
