Its aim is to provide people with a way to quickly check a website's credentials. To receive the HONcode certification a websites must show that it is a real authority on health; that it provide complimentary information; that it respects the confidentiality of its users; that is cites the sources and dates of medical information; that it justifies its claims and provides objective information; that it is transparent, accessible and that it clearly distinguishes advertising from editorial content.

The HONcode certification is an ethical standard aimed at offering quality health information, and they have declared that "The health Website MotleyHealth is in compliance with the HONcode".

To further improve the quality of information provided Jon studied health science with the Open University and has received a Certificate in Health Sciences.

MotleyHealth was initially started a hobby while Jon was working full time in the banking sector. However, in 2009 the changing world economy resulted in the relocation of his job from London to Glasgow and he was made redundant. It was then that he decided to end his 12 year career in banking to pursue his real passion full time. In the last 3 years the website has been transformed from a simple hobby blog into an internationally recognized digital brand that receives over 4 million visitors annually from all around the world.
