PR Log - Nov 09, 2012 - A little bit can go a long way--that much has always been clear to the veteran's charity, Healing Heroes Network. Thanks to the Mike Alstott Family Foundation, that "little bit" can go quite a ways longer!

Healing Heroes Network (HHN) is excited to announce they are the winners of the 2012 Mike Alstott Family Foundation Community Grant. After being selected as one of ten "finalists," the Mike Alstott Family Foundation posted a contest on their Facebook page for fans to "vote" for their favorite charity to win the grant. Fans could vote once a day, every day until the end of the contest on October 15th at 11:55 pm.

For two weeks fans voted on Facebook and urged their friends to do the same. On October 16, 2012, HHN had the most votes at 1712, 381 votes higher than the second place charity.

The Mike Alstott Family Foundation will be awarding the grant to HHN to  use towards their Welcome Home, Hero program, which provides financial assistance to military families of wounded service members injured in Iraq or Afghanistan since 9/11/01 to use towards basic necessities, including food, shelter, bills, and travel.

"We will now be able to help up to an additional 20 families," said HHN Executive Director, Stacey Spiegel. "That's just incredible. We at HHN and the service members we help are so grateful to our supporters and the Mike Alstott Family Foundation."

About Healing Heroes Network

After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and the subsequent war on terror, thousands of members of our armed forces have been injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. Often these men and women are unable to receive the medical treatments that would facilitate their return to a productive civilian life. While the Department of Veteran Affairs provides treatment to these troops, the scope of covered services is limited, sometimes unavailable, and often delayed.

Healing Heroes Network was founded in 2008 by Dr. Allan Spiegel and his wife Stacey in order to fill these gaps. Healing Heroes Network, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, was formed to facilitate the treatment process and provide resources for America's wounded Heroes. Healing Heroes Network provides financial assistance for these men and women to help them return to healthier and happier civilian lives.
