Headwaters “Kicks Off” Drumming Circle CD Project

By: PRLog
PR Log - Feb 20, 2013 - Minneapolis, MN and New Orleans, LA – Headwaters Disaster Relief Organization announced a new project  via the popular fundraising website Kickstarter. The project will raise funds to create a CD of 9th Ward children performing in therapeutic drumming circles. Funds raised will help the children create and market a musical CD of their talents, and be used for recording equipment. The project will be coordinated with Project Rising Sun, a non-profit based in New Orleans and Headwaters’ River of Hope Mental Health Center in the Ninth Ward.

Therapeutic drumming circles are coordinated by Project Sun and River of Hope to help alleviate many of the symptoms of stress still experienced by those in the Lower 9th Ward, one of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina. The children’s drumming circles have been featured in media stories on CNN and other major news outlets.

Funds will be raised until February 28th, with a total goal of $2000. Donations may be made via Kickstarter here.  To see a slideshow of the children of the 9th Ward, click here.
