Blog shows all of us how to do meaningful scientific work and contribute to the quest for knowledge

PR Log - Apr 15, 2013 - CitizenScienceCenter.com, a blog that connects people to a wide range of real-world scientific projects, has earned a 2013 Webby Award Honoree nod.

Of 11,000 entries from over 60 countries and all 50 U.S. states submitted to the 17th Annual Webby Awards, the Official Honoree distinction is awarded to only the top 10% of all work entered. Winners are chosen by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization whose members include Ravio CEO Mikael Hed, Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom, film director Darren Aronofsky, entrepreneur Martha Stewart, and Huffington Post Media Group president Arianna Huffington.

Websites are judged on content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity, and overall user experience.

“I am thrilled to be able to raise the profile of citizen science this way,” says blog author Chandra Clarke. “People sometimes feel helpless in the face of seemingly intractable problems like cancer, malaria, or climate change. They ask, ‘What can I do?’ CitizenScienceCenter.com projects provide users with the means to contribute to solutions in real and meaningful ways.”

CitizenScienceCenter.com is updated weekly. The projects available include everything from simple set-and-forget computer installs, to field-work opportunities.
