PRLog - May 24, 2013 - CLIFTON, N.J. -- If you thought the NFL’s most heated rivalries stayed on the football field, you’ve clearly never been to the Rival Golf Classic.

On Monday, June 24th, NFC East legends of the past and present will join their old gridiron nemeses for a charity golf tournament honoring the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation. Past and present players for the New York Giants, Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dallas Cowboys will put their golf skills to the test for a contest featuring Dick Vermeil, Harry Carson, Lawrence Taylor, Victor Cruz, Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson, Everson Walls, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Mike Quick, Amani Toomer, Jeremiah Trotter, Jim Burt, Roman Oben, Gary Jeter, Charlie Brown, Brian Mitchell, Billy Taylor and Seth Joyner, among others.

Expect trash talk, celebrity sightings, and a lot of fun—all in the name of our military—when these NFC East alumni take to the green in June. In last year’s Classic, the Giants edged out the Cowboys for the win and Army beat Navy in our military competition. This year, Harry Carson, the former New York Giants linebacker and 2006 Hall of Fame inductee, has his eyes on a repeat title.

“Nothing’s more motivating than the thought of beating the Cowboys, Eagles, and Redskins—unless it’s the thought of beating them for a great cause,” said Carson, who is also a host of the Golf Classic. “I can think of no better cause than supporting our veterans and their causes. Especially when I get to make Hollywood Henderson cry like a little girl as I do it.”

For the fourth consecutive year, the Rival Golf Classic is proud to be supporting the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation. The Congressional Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. The CMOH Foundation was created to perpetuate the Medal of Honor’s legacy through outreach and collaborative efforts.

“America’s little kids look up to these players. It’s humbling to know that these players look up to America’s veterans,” said Jack Jacobs, a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient for his actions during the Vietnam War. He is now a military analyst for MSNBC. “The Rival Golf Classic isn’t just a good time on the course; it’s also an important reminder of all that our military does for us every day.”

The tournament will air live on WFAN Sports Radio and lists an impressive list of high-profile sponsors, including the event’s Title Sponsor Kellogg’s, along with Dr Pepper Snapple Group, HBO, and Macy’s.
