InFocus Selects TranSwitch HDplay Solution for Two Platforms Supporting Several New Projectors

TranSwitch® Corporation (NASDAQ: TXCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions in the rapidly growing consumer electronics and telecommunications markets, today announced that the Company is working with InFocus to leverage HDplay® technology in several upcoming projectors. TranSwitch’s TXC-44152 HDplay transceiver has been selected by InFocus as an enabling video solution for two new projector platforms that will drive the design of several new projector models, with production starts planned by early Q1 2014. InFocus, a global leader in digital display devices, will leverage HDplay’s exceptional level of integration to reduce design cost and complexity, while speeding time-to-market.

According to PMA Research, the worldwide projector market continues to increase and is anticipated to reach 9.5 million units in 2013. Many of these projectors are expected to feature multiple connectivity standards, including HDMI® and DisplayPort™. According to a report by TechNavio, HDMI- and DisplayPort-enabled device shipments are forecasted to increase at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.7% and 31.6%, respectively, from 2012 to 2016.

The TXC-44152 transceiver provides two video inputs including a quad-mode input port supporting HDMI 1.4b, DisplayPort 1.2, MHL™ 2.0, and Mobility DisplayPort (MyDP) 1.0. The TXC-44152 has been optimized for projectors and pico projectors by providing a 48b LVTTL parallel output enabling video formats up to and including 4K2K and 3DFHD.

“InFocus continues to raise the bar in projector and display performance with unparalleled image clarity and world-class interactive capabilities,” said Louis Hindman, manager of Product Development at InFocus. “We are very pleased to be working closely with TranSwitch to leverage its innovative HDplay solutions for more versatile connectivity across a variety of standards. This technology collaboration will help deliver an enhanced user experience and provide yet another point of differentiation for our world-class multimedia products.”

“We are excited to collaborate with InFocus on this series of new projector models,” said Tim Blanke, vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at TranSwitch. “Our unique HDplay solutions enable easy integration of multiple connectivity standards simplifying both design and production. By working together, we believe that the next-generation of InFocus products will enable users in a multitude of applications, including education, enterprise, and entertainment, to easily connect to a wide range of source devices.”

TranSwitch’s HDplay transceivers leverage the Company’s unique MHDP™ technology to combine HDMI, DisplayPort, MyDP and MHL functionality in a single IC. This level of integration helps manufacturers reduce design complexity, cost, space requirements and time-to-market. HDplay also utilizes TranSwitch’s patented AnyCable™ technology, enabling the user to confidently select long and inexpensive cables while maintaining HDMI 1.4 performance.
