PRLog - Aug 29, 2013 - ST. LOUIS -- To commemorate The Mission Continues’ third annual Summer Service Slam, Southeast Toyota Finance  associates worked alongside more than 80 veterans at an event refreshing the Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club of St. Louis. The initiative offered veterans, active duty military and civilians a chance to work together to revitalize their community.

“We are honored to work shoulder-to-shoulder with courageous men and women who have made extraordinary sacrifices to protect this country,” said Rod Arends, Vice President of Service Center Operations for Southeast Toyota Finance. “It’s our way of showing support and saying ‘thank you’ for their bravery and commitment to serving our great nation.”

Since establishing the relationship with The Mission Continues last year, Southeast Toyota Finance and parent company JM Family Enterprises, Inc. have contributed $7,500, in addition to supporting another revival project. At the most recent event, volunteers painted interior walls, surrounding fences and picnic tables, as well as performed light landscaping, minor repairs and general cleaning at the Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club property.

“Assisting veterans with a smooth transition after they leave the military is very important,” said Lyndsey Hodges, Director of Development for The Mission Continues. “We are grateful for the support that Southeast Toyota Finance gives us.”

The Mission Continues is a national nonprofit organization that empowers U.S. military veterans, who have served since the events of 9/11, to successfully transition to post-military careers through community volunteerism.
