MTAM Executive Director and members of Michigan’s mobile/wireless community provide insights to help county educators prepare students for use of the technologies in future careers
PRLog - Oct. 12, 2013 - CLARKSTON, Mich. -- Mobile/wireless technologies are impacting every business vertical, and as a result, the future careers of today’s K-12 students. Understanding the importance of preparing students to utilize these technologies in their future careers, members of the Oakland Career & Technical Educators’ Association (OCTEA) are making the technologies the focus of their October 14th Regional Advisory Meeting at the Oakland Schools in Waterford.

Participants in the ninth annual meeting include more than 300 Career & Technical Educators from Oakland County’s 28 school districts, as well as members of the business community who participate in CTE Program Advisory Committees for the individual school districts.

Keynoting the event will be Linda Daichendt, Executive Director of the Mobile Technology Association of Michigan, who will be speaking on ‘The Mobile Explosion: What it means for students, their career opportunities, the education community, and Michigan’s economy.’

Following the keynote, members of Michigan’s mobile/wireless community will serve as expert facilitators as event participants breakout into groups based on the career clusters covered in the CTE programs. Career clusters include:

Facilitators will lead the groups through discussions designed to aid their understanding of the ways mobile/wireless technologies are being utilized in their focus industry and what schools and educators can do to prepare students to work with the technologies in those careers.

MTAM’s Daichendt states, “Helping the education community to understand the impact of mobile/wireless technologies on the future careers of their students, and the importance of preparing students for those futures, is a major focus of MTAM’s statewide agenda. We welcome every opportunity to engage our organization and the members of the mobile technology community in helping educators gain the information required to build effective training programs for students. The better prepared students are, the more in demand they will be from businesses, and the greater the positive impact on Michigan’s economy.”
