The Spinnaker Group Inc., South Florida based LEED Consultants, Energy Modelers and Building Commissioning Agents, reach a new mile stone with their 75th LEED Certified project, Aventura Optima Plaza, which achieved LEED Platinum Certification, the highest LEED Certification possible.
PRLog - Mar. 5, 2014 - AVENTURA, Fla. -- Not all new construction projects can make the claim that they are "green," LEED Certified or sustainable in any way, however, that is not the case for the newly constructed Aventura Optima Plaza located on South Florida's bustling Biscayne Boulevard.
Recently awarded LEED Platinum, the highest level of LEED Certification available, this LEED for Core + Shell Version 2.0 project scored an impressive 46 out of 61 points.Along with being LEED Platinum Certified, Aventura Optima Plaza is unique in many ways due to the many sustainable features incorporated by the Mexican architectural firm of Arquitectos Brom Asociados in association with locally-based Architects Behar Font and Partners.
Some of these features include a southern facade wrapped in solar panels, a green roof top garden with lush landscaping complete with jogging path and outdoor seating, floor to ceiling windows that allow for expansive views of Aventura topped by a prime location, conveniently surrounded by mass transit.
Major components of the project include 9-floors of Class A Office space, a state of the art medical building and parking garage that connects the two buildings via an open air atrium and lobby space.
This project marks new milestones for The Spinnaker Group, who provided LEED Consulting and Building Commissioning. It is the 75th LEED Certified project and first ever LEED Platinum certification that the Group has worked on. Add 117,000 square feet to the millions of previously commissioned space and that takes The Spinnaker Group's Building Commissioning portfolio well over the 5 million square foot mark.
Jonathan Burgess and Nabil Maroun, both of The Spinnaker Group, helped guide the design team and all other sub-consultants to a "Platinum" victory. TSG hopes this is just one of many LEED Platinum projects they work on and are excited to see the LEED Certified projects list grow in South Florida.
