Steve’s Quest, World's First Animated Musical Web Series, Releases its Premiere Episode

PRLog - Mar. 15, 2014 - OAKLAND, Calif. -- Writer-composer Chris Edgar, and animators Hoyt Silva and Michelle Poust, have released the first episode of Steve’s Quest: The Musical, a web series presented in a unique, animated musical format.  The episode can be found on YouTube here.

Steve's Quest tells the tale of Steve, a young software engineer, and his struggles with work, love and writing a science fiction novel.  Steve reluctantly works at a “cubicle farm” software engineering job, only because of his obsession with lovely colleague Sabrina, and to support his hobby of writing cyberpunk-themed sci-fi.  Setbacks on all of these fronts send Steve on an epic and amusing journey of self-discovery, through men’s support groups, online role-playing games, and even the cyberpunk universe of his own creation.

Steve’s Quest’s score uses a hard-rock style influenced by artists such as Queen and Rainbow, and rock-influenced Broadway composers like Tom Kitt and Jonathan Larson.  Episode 1’s cast includes Gina Breedlove, who appeared in the Broadway production of The Lion King, and Meredith DiMenna of Oh, Cassius! and St. Bernadette.

“If you like science fiction, rock operas and software engineering humor, it’s hard to imagine a web series that suits your tastes better,” said creator Chris Edgar.  “But more broadly, I think people who are interested in the web series medium will be intrigued to see the new direction we’re taking it in.”

Edgar is also an attorney who has worked for several years at law firms in the San Francisco, California Bay Area.  He calls this project part of his “new direction.”

More information about the series can be found at its official website.
