Last-minute hotel booking app HotelQuickly expands to the US and adds San Francisco as first destination

By: PRLog
Shortly after HotelQuickly celebrated its first anniversary, it takes a huge leap and adds its third continent to the map: North America. With the expansion to the US it expects to tap into an underserved market. The first destination made available on the app might come as a surprise: San Francisco.
PRLog - Apr. 1, 2014 - SAN FRANCISCO -- Hong Kong-based startup HotelQuickly offers discounted last-minute hotels via a mobile application available for free for iPhone, Android phones, and BlackBerry 10 devices. The startup launched 12 months ago in 6 countries across Asia. Since then, it expanded to another 6 markets, including Australia and New Zealand, and partnered up with more than 2,000 hotels. The venture is now accelerating its expansion efforts, and by taking its service overseas to the US, it will certainly manage to attract a large number of additional users, desperately waiting for a service like HotelQuickly.

Tomas Laboutka, Co-Founder and CEO of HotelQuickly highlights the driving factors of the decision to expand to the US. “The travel and mobile usage patterns are favorable to a concept like ours. The vast majority of smartphone owners in the US rely on their mobile devices as preferred source of information and as a channel for spontaneous bookings. By making HotelQuickly available for this mature market we address an underserved customer need and we have big hopes for our concept to catch on with the US audience,” elaborates Laboutka.

San Francisco seems like an odd first choice though, however, as most tech trends spread from Silicon Valley to the rest of the country, The Bay Area is certainly above average in receptive and tech-savvy users, and may trigger a trendsetting movement. HotelQuickly offers hotels in the 3-5* category and at launch will only display a very limited number of choices. The company selects partner hotels after a thorough assessment; only the best of the best will manage to find a spot in the mobile application.

HotelQuickly expects to add a number of cities across the US in the upcoming weeks, and looking at their offers in Asia Pacific, most likely around 10 deals will be made available per day per city. The startup manages to get on average about 30% cheaper rates than traditional booking channels due to a strict non-cancellation policy, randomized offers on the app, and a limited booking window. Hence, if you know at 8am already that you will need a hotel tonight, make sure to lock in your hotel quickly.
