About the Founder
Dr. Eleece Jel, former corporate educator and academic turned spiritually-minded contemplative and educator to the enlightenment seeking set, is founder of National Hermit Week. She observes, “What started out in the early years as a humorous way to bring attention to the benefits of spending time alone in today's modern chaotic world evolved into something larger with unforeseen sociological and spiritual implications. I keep the holiday going to encourage people in their hermit quests and to instill a sense of fun in a journey that can be profoundly life-altering. ”
