Music Industry Legend Singer/Songwriter Kipper Jones Signs With Staticc; Preps 2014 Projects

By: PRLog
PRLog - May 2, 2014 - ATLANTA -- Kipper Jones is ready to get down! He’s a featured vocalist on the forthcoming Lil John Roberts release “The Heartbeat” and Rhonda Thomas’ release “VINYL DAZE,” and he’s signed a management deal with Staticc Art & Life’s Artist Development division. In addition to his musical appearances Jones is launching his Vote To Live campaign on May 5, 2014. Vote To Live will bring awareness to the necessity of voting, and share information locally and nationally.

Jones says, “One of the main questions I’m asked by younger and aspiring artists is, ‘When is it time to get a manager?’ My response is almost always, ‘When you can’t do it yourself!’ It’s your vision, your gift. Finding someone who shares your passion, drive, and direction can be arduous at best. And because my interests include not just my personal musical activities, but Social Justice and political observation (‘Vote To Live’), as well music education, specifically music in schools, trusting that they will all be addressed is always of paramount concern. Staticc is an operation that ‘gets’ the totality of me, and even still encourages my inclinations. I appreciate the well-rounded approach and attention to detail, as well as the exuberance and enthusiasm. I’m more than excited about the future of our association!"

Jay Ray Founder & Artistic Director of Staticc says, “We are humbled and excited to have Kipper as part of the Staticc family. His talent for songwriting has given us some of the most timeless lyrics in modern music. Our goal is to help him continue to build on his legacy."

Jones will continue his regular weekly appearances on Friday nights at the legendary Cafe 290 in Sandy Springs, GA as part of RadioWGKJ.

About Kipper Jones

Born in Flint, MI, and raised in Los Angeles, the history of Kipper Jones is a timeline through the history of the modern Black music industry. Jones was Motown trained as a session singer at age 15, during the last of the Berry Gordy era, and as part of the venerable R&B/Funk outfit Tease.

Kipper Jones has performed and recorded with a multi-generational mix of industry lore, but it's been as a songwriter where the legend of Kipper Jones is most associated. From crafting Vanessa Williams’ "The Right Stuff", as well as the double platinum follow-up, "The Comfort Zone", to the landmark Atlantic Records debut for artist Brandy, which included several Kipper Jones compositions, "I Wanna Be Down", "Brokenhearted", and the record setting, "Baby." Along the way, he’s been a part of the debut and sophomore releases of Kenny Lattimore, (featuring the initial smash single, “Never Too Busy”), the Funk/Soul classic, “Somethin’ Deep” by R&B icon Chaka Khan, “In The Middle” (Produced by the late George Duke), from the classic motion picture, The Five Heartbeats, as well as original music for the Wesley Snipes produced, Sundance Film Festival Award winning documentary, A Great and Mighty Walk.
