Digitaltide’s unique patented capability makes “Insider Threat” type debacles preventable.
PRLog - Jul. 8, 2014 - RALEIGH, N.C. -- Digitaltide Solutions Inc. announces the issuance of their second patent, U.S. Patent No. 8,713,054 issued on April 29, 2014. This patent continues Digitaltide’s development of  unique security classification and marking methods in electronic documents. A configurable security classification regime supports and controls user security classification activities for information on computer systems.

Digitaltide’s President, James Luke Turner, stated:

Sensitive information and National Security information must be identified before it can be adequately protected. Means must be implemented to assist the users of computer systems and document development applications for assessing the value of information in accordance with the  security policies of an organization as well as holding those same users responsible for their security assessments. Users making value assessments of information at times must negotiate complex security classification policies of their organization and ensure that their assessment covers the complete informational content of an electronic document. Digitaltide’s system mitigates some of that complexity and assures document security classification by means of an easy to use user classification interface. Once value assessments or classifications are made, the information must be marked to identify the informational value of an electronic document. Such marks must be persistent and consistent in electronic documents so that subsequent users of the document know the protection requirements and can also be held accountable for protecting the information. The methods of our patents apply equally to identifying and protecting private sector corporate information as well as public sector government information.

User valuation methods for information are a necessary enhancement for Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions that rely on scans to match keywords and information patterns. Human determination of the value of information fills DLP solution gaps and enables holding information developers and end users responsible for protection.

The “Wikileaks” and “Snowdens” of the corporate world are less likely to be publicized, but they are no less catastrophic to an organization in the private sector. “

The patent covers the technology of Digitaltide’s Classification Marker Suite(CM-Suite) unique process and products.  Additional patents are pending.
