Speaker, Panelist and Judge at August Events in Taiwan, Vietnam
NEW YORK, NY, July 28, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- US innovation expert Dr. Hal Raveche will serve as a featured speaker, panelist and competition judge this August at two major innovation conferences in Asia.
Dr. Raveche works frequently with universities, businesses and government agencies throughout East Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia to assist in cultivating technology innovation and entrepreneurship.
The first event, taking place in Taiwan August 6-7, at the Sheraton Grande Taipei Hotel, will be the APEC Accelerator Network Summit 2014. The conference also provides the venue for the Intel Asia-Pacific Challenge and Siemens New Ventures Forum, in collaboration with APEC (abbreviation for "Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation").
Dr. Raveche, who is President of Innovation Strategies International (USA) and Founding Advisor of the Roundtable for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Taiwan), will speak on the topic of Innovation in Renewable Energy and Health Care.
"As the founding director of the biomass energy company Biogen," said Dr. Raveche, "I will discuss Renewable Energy from the perspective of someone in the biomass power systems business. I will also present innovation in health care from the perspective of developed and hdeveloping countries, along with the vast opportunities for open innovation among entrepreneurs in Taiwan and other APEC nations."
Raveche will also serve as a judge during the Intel Asia-Pacific Challenge and Siemens New Ventures Forum, which is designed for 35 preselected startup teams to present in a competitive process in front of an international panel of experts, judges and investors.
Also during the conference, Raveche will take part in the Panel Discussion on Wellness, Life and a Sustainable Future, moderated by Dr. Helmut Wenisch, Head of Technology and Innovation Management at Siemens Japan.
The second August event, at which Dr. Raveche will serve as a plenary speaker, will be the Second International Conference on Computational Science and Engineering (ICCSE), held at the REX Hotel, August 21-23, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The topic of Dr. Raveche's presentation will be Academic Entrepreneurship and Innovation (AEI).
"Universities world-wide face significant challenges," said Raveche, "including, but not limited to the impact of demographics on enrollments, budget constraints, rising tuition, improved job placements for students, and pressures to contribute more to society, business and industry, as well as increasing competition for funding of research.
"AEI is a supportive university-sponsored ecosystem," he continued, "consisting of infrastructure, opportunities, rewards and assistance. Its purpose is to enable faculty and students to leap-frog the constraints of the status quo and thrive in challenging environments. AEI enables faculty to realize potential economic value of their research for the benefit of themselves, the university and society. I know it can work, because I administered this kind of environment as a university president for nearly two decades."
Raveche earned his PhD in physical chemistry at the University of California at San Diego. During a distinguish career as a researcher, professor and administrator, he served institutions and agencies such as Stevens Institute of Technology (President), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Dean of Science) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (Founding Chief of the Thermophysics Division).
Dr. Raveche is available to provide expert commentary and to address business associations and other audiences on developments in Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, China, Vietnam and other high-growth nations throughout the region.
