More than 500 runners are expected to compete in the 10K and 5K events to benefit local charities
PRLog - Oct. 13, 2014 - HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- It’s time to lace up those running shoes as the 23rd Annual Hargray Hilton Head Island Bridge Run 10K and 5K is set to take place Saturday, November 15. This fun and challenging event will benefit local charities and is presented by The Bleu Companies who anticipate the participation of more than 500 runners from throughout the Lowcountry. The premier Hilton Head Island area Subaru dealer, Subaru of Hilton Head at New River Auto Mall is a Gold Sponsor of the event and will have their vehicles on display.
“We’re looking forward to this annual race on Hilton Head Island,” said Warner Peacock, President & CEO of New River Auto Mall. “Our Subaru vehicles fit in nicely with the racing community.”
The starting and finishing line for local runners and walkers will be at Crossings Park. Both the 10K and 5K races will start at 8 a.m., with walkers starting shortly after the runners. The course runs over the Broad Creek Bridge, onto Cross Island Parkway, and back to Crossings Park. Awards will be given to overall male and female race winners, as well as to the winners in age group categories.
All participants can look forward to the post-race party, which will feature the award ceremony, refreshments, live music, and door prizes. Participants will also receive a colorful commemorative t-shirt from the Salty Dog Café T-Shirt Factory.
Best of all, proceeds from the event will benefit a number of important local charities, including Region 8 Special Olympics, Hilton Head High School Athletes, and the Children’s Relief Fund.

The Annual Hargray Hilton Head Island Bridge Run has been a Lowcountry tradition since 1992 and has hosted over 10,200 runners and walkers and raised more than $40,000 for worthy area charities. This year’s charity fun run and health walk is open to men, women, and children, and a record turnout is expected.
