July 4 Fireworks Safety Tips for Children Issued by 3 Bees and Me

On July 4, families will gather once again for good food, company and of course, fireworks. To help ensure the celebration is a safe one, earlier today 3 Bees and Me issued their fireworks safety tips for children. While this upcoming holiday is a momentous and joyous time, parents should not forget to take safety precautions.

To prevent accidents from dampening the festivities, here are some safety tips shared by the company:

Consider skipping doing fireworks at home.  According to American Academy of Pediatrics, it is recommended families with children avoid purchasing fireworks and using them at home. Instead, just attend the public fireworks display.

If fireworks will be set off at home, don’t let a child set any off.  Only adults should actually touch and light fireworks.

Protect the ears of children during public fireworks displays. Earplugs are readily available in drug stores as well as sporting goods stores. If the right size of earplugs is not available, another option is the earmuff.

Never allow kids to pick up a “used” firework. Some fireworks may look like it’s been set off but some can still ignite any time causing explosion, burns and injuries.

Sparklers are not recommended. Sparklers, as innocent as they may seem to be, can cause burns. In fact, sparklers can burn at more than 1000 degrees F. It is one of the most popular causes of firework injuries. Glow sticks may be a better alternative.

If sparklers will be used by older children, make sure that they hold the sparkler at arm’s length. It is also crucial that people holding them stand at least six feet away from each other. After using a sparkler, it should be dropped in a pail of water.

Nobody wants to end the celebration with a disaster because of this; it is safest to always do precautionary measures. The tips issued by the company will surely help parents celebrate Independence Day safely with their children.

3 Bees and Me has always been kid and family-friendly. It is very evident in their product line which includes items that puts a fun and unique twist on standard baby essentials. Products like their diaper clutch can be found at Amazon.
