Zafgen, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZFGN) closed yesterday's trading session down 5.10% at 5.96. The sluggish trading was part of a larger story of decline after news broke that a second patient had died whilst taking part in a study for the company's lead treatment, beloranib. Currently ZFGN is evaluating the treatment on patients suffering from Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), a widely known genetic cause of often life-threatening obesity. ZFGN has confirmed that the FDA has stated verbally that its beloranib investigational new drug (IND) application is now on clinical hold. This means that all clinical work associated with its application is now suspended - certainly not good news for a company that continues to trade below its 50 DMA of 18.16. RSI is 25 so there is strong bounce potential from a technical perspective.
