DURHAM, NC – 21 May, 2016 – Alicia Aiken, aka Alicia Grant, author of several popular Christian paperback and audio books has become an advocate in the fight against Diabetes.

Through June 30, 2016, Aiken is donating 30 percent of the proceeds from a series of word search puzzle books she has written for children and adults to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Since its founding more than 40 years ago by parents of children affected by type 1 diabetes, the (JDRF) has been committed to finding a cure for all those individuals living with the disease.

“The research supported by organizations like JDRF has led to advances that have improved the lives of millions of people with diabetes,” Aiken said.

“Their aim is to ensure that both children and adults living with type 1 diabetes remain healthy so that they can fully benefit from a cure when it becomes available.”

Aiken says her wish is for anyone with diabetes to see a future with great hope. This is borne from her deep Christian faith and belief that everyone can make a positive difference especially in the lives of those that are hurting.

“It is my passion to spread happiness in society and eliminate all the elements of sadness that I possibly can,” she added.

Aiken is turning the pages on negativity with her puzzle books, many of which she says cater to children and will keep them entertained, engaged and inspired at the same time.

“If you are looking for a fun way to increase and aid your child with their vocabulary these books are essential. The books range from those suitable for beginners to those who are well seasoned in word search puzzles,” Aiken said.

With an easy-to-use format designed especially for young children, there are five puzzle books in the series that offers a simple and fun challenge for children and adults.

The puzzles expand vocabulary, develop the use of context clues, and promote reading comprehension.  They feature either horizontal or vertical words and in some editions both.

There’s also a puzzle book in the series called, “My First Word Search Puzzle Book: Horizontal and Vertical” that is especially geared toward children who are new to word search puzzles and can also be used for those who are new to learning the English language.

“Many of the books will ease children into the wonderful world of word search, and will teach them the fundamentals of language and sentence structure. All the puzzles are capitalized, making it easier to spot the words that are familiar to them while also learning new words,” Aiken noted.

Aiken not only helps children with their learning skills but she is also involved in projects within her community geared toward making this world a better place to live.

Aiken is an honors graduate of Barber-Scotia College located in Concord, North Carolina. She majored in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.

The puzzle books are: My First Word Search Puzzle Book: Horizontal and Vertical, Word Search Puzzles: Easy to Intermediate, Word Search Puzzles: 5th and Up, Word Search Puzzles for Children Horizontal Only and Word Search Puzzles for Children Vertical Only.

They are available online and everywhere books are sold.
