Two-Year Term Begins June 6th at National Conference in Washington, DC, Where He Will Present on Artificial Intelligence Journalism and Automated Publishing
WASHINGTON & ATLANTA - June 1, 2016 - PRLog -- C.W. Henderson, PhD, president of NewsRx, Atlanta, has been elected to the board of directors of the Specialized Information Publishers Association (SIPA) Division of the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA), Washington, DC. His two-year term will run from 2016-18.

He has been invited to speak at the association's Annual Conference taking place on June 6th - 8th, 2016 in Washington, DC, where he will discuss "State of the Art: Automated Journalism and Artificial Intelligence for Publishers" during the "Content" track taking place on Tuesday, June 7th at 2:05 PM ET.

During this session, Henderson will present information based on news reports about three major early players developing these technologies:  Narrative Science, NewsRx, and Automated Insights subsidiary of Vista Equity Partners-owned STATS LLC, as well as early adopters of machine writing: Forbes, Thomson Reuters, Associated Press (AP), Los Angeles Times, and NewsRx.

"When planning automation for journalism and publishing, we have learned that rather than having our computer code and natural language technologies NLP and NLG focus on creating information, we discovered we needed to focus on creating knowledge instead. All information is not knowledge as we all find out when searching Google," Henderson said.

Henderson also will discuss automated article writing software, robot journalism, and artificial intelligence journalism.

In 1999 NewsRx pioneered robot journalism and was the first company to use artificial intelligence and machine writing for creating news articles. With 195 newsweeklies, The New York Times news service called NewsRx the largest health news company. Its newest title is Zika and Mosquito Week.

NewsRx has produced 12-million articles and outputs 10,000 articles daily for its knowledge discovery engine BUTTER (Better Understanding Through Technology & Emerging Research).

Henderson has been on the covers of Billboard and USA Today, which selected him among Six Who Made a Difference. With eleven eHealthcare Leadership Awards, including Best Health/Healthcare Content, he is executive director of Researcher Institute and author at Penguin Random House.
