After nearly three years of construction and $450 million in expenditures — with a sidetrack to announcing “hundreds of jobs” would be eliminated — Monday was a day of celebration for Northwestern Mutual as the company opened its impressive Tower and Commons overlooking Milwaukee’s downtown lakefront.
