Charlotte Checkers ready to hit the ice at Bojangles' Coliseum, offers preview of upcoming season (PHOTOS)

The city's minor league hockey team — Triple-A affiliate of the Raleigh-based Carolina Hurricanes — will return for its third season at the east Charlotte venue off Independence Boulevard on Oct. 13 after moving from the uptown arena it shared with Charlotte's NBA franchise for a decade.
