Linden Optometry Fundraising for World Sight Day 2017

"After all, if you can't see, you can't learn, and that condemns many in the developing world to a life of poverty and disadvantage."
-- Dr. Juan Carlos Aragon (Global Chair -- Optometry Giving Sight)

PASADENA, Calif. - Oct. 6, 2017 - PRLog -- Every child should have an eye exam, but millions don't have access to the vision care they need!  Because of this, The Doctors and Staff of Linden Optometry A P.C. in Pasadena are holding Bake Sales on Saturdays in September and October to raise funds for World Sight Day 2017, which is October 12.  All funds raised from Bake Sales will be used to support vision care programs throughout the world, including "Our Children's Vision".

Undetected vision conditions do more than just limit a child's ability to see.  They limit their ability to learn, can lead to the misdiagnosis of a learning disability like ADHD, can increase the likelihood of behavioral problems, and in some instances, can even lead to blindness, if not identified and treated early.  The funds raised this year will go towards projects that give sight and hope to more than 1 million children in 2017, through our international charity of choice, Optometry Giving Sight.

This year's campaign will help raise funds for more young children like Alyssa -- a young girl from the southwest of Mexico who  received her first pair of glasses last year thanks to a child eye health project that is funded in part by Optometry Giving Sight. In her words: "Everything that was wrong is now in the past. Nothing can stop me now!"

It is estimated that half the world's population will be myopic – or nearsighted – by 2050, and the cost to the global economy will be a huge $202 billion annually through the loss of educational and economic productivity. If we can reach children while their eyes are developing, we can slow and even reverse this trend.

An eye exam and a pair of glasses can be the solution. When children are educated they tend to be healthier, participate more in the labor market, earn higher incomes and enable better health care and education for their own children in the future.

"We are concerned about people around the world who lack access to the quality eye care which we often take for granted," said Alan Limfat, OD, President of Linden Optometry A P.C.  " On World Sight Day (October 12) Linden Optometry will match all of the funds collected from the Bake Sales as well as from Donation Boxes in our facility.  We look forward to your support as we help to raise urgently needed funds for this great cause."
