MLK50 Editorial: Memphis 2018 owes much of its identity to Memphis 1968

On April 16, 1968, the City of Memphis recognized the sanitation workers union and gave them better pay and benefits. It was a huge victory, but it wasn’t permanent, and it never propagated far enough to impact other black economic realities.
