FORT WORTH, Texas - Nov. 6, 2018 - PRLog -- Translation & Interpretation Network (TIN), a business of Catholic Charities Fort Worth, is hosting its third annual Symposium on Language Access at the University Of Texas at Arlington's E. H. Hereford University Center on November 9th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, 49 percent of people report English as their second language, making it hard to communicate clearly with doctors, teachers, and various providers of service. These everyday struggles create a barrier, and even more so for low-income families. The Symposium's goal is to identify barriers and report successful efforts to eliminate some of these barriers and equip businesses with the tools to effectively help the Limited English Proficiency (LEP) population in our community.
Tickets are $99 and includes meals, seven hours of CEU credits, and a robust program featuring language experts from around the country. Keynote speakers include:
Holly Mikkelson, Professor at Middlebury Institute of International Studies
Cynthia Roat, International consultant on language access
Randi Turner, Accessibility and Disability Rights Coordinator of the Texas Governor's Committee.
Media are welcome to attend for free and interview participants and speakers. For more information or to register, please visit tintranslation.com/new-symposium
