Chennai, Nov 30, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - Quilt India Foundation [QIF] announced that the First India Quilt Festival (IQF 2019) will be held at Sri Sankara Hall, Chennai from 25- 27 January 2019.
The festival highlights Include Quilt Show- a show of competition quilts, Workshops full day interactive learning sessions with leading Indian and International Quilters, Lectures by leading experts, Curated Special Exhibits of quilts from different parts of the world and private collections, and Textile tours around India.
Tina Katwal, Director (Shows) says This festival has been planned to run on the lines of Quilt shows organized across the world with elements of competition, exhibition, education, and a marketplace. It is a good forum for Quilters in India to showcase their works, for consumers and art lovers to get a flavor of international trends and see a variety of products. Tina also adds that the market comprising of quilters, patchwork artists and sewists in India is fast growing and will soon emerge as a huge mature consumer section with high purchasing power. It is the perfect time for suppliers of sewing and quilting related products to come together in a common platform to engage with them.
QIF invites quilters in India and overseas to participate in the competition segment - Quilt Show. Categories for the competition include Traditional, Modern, Art, Novice and Theme Quilts. Novice category is aimed at Quilters who have been quilting for 2 years or less. The theme for India Quilt Festival 2019 is The Dance of the Peacock. Registration is open till 31 December 2018. Prizes worth INR 15 Lacs are being sponsored by leading Indian and Global brands.
