Reading books make you happy? Yes, if you read 3.

Roma, Apr 3, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - One of the most beautiful quotations from Umberto Eco states: "Those who do not read, at age 70 will have lived only one life: their own. The reader will have lived 5,000 years ".

Reading lovers have always maintained that their passion makes them more brilliant, empathetic and curious, keeping their minds always trained, but now it seems that reading assiduously also contributes to making people happier.

This was stated by the latest survey by the Italian publisher Bruno Editore on a sample of about 2,000,000 customers, which shows that those who read at least 3 books a year tend to declare that they are happy, more than those who don't or those who do it only occasionally.

87% of regular readers assert that they are able to establish better relationships with others, finding a propensity for personal growth, noting an improvement in work or school performance in 75% of cases. Respondents were also asked to assess their degree of stress in the last 12 months on a scale of 1 to 10, trying to make an indicative balance. Those who declared that they read only 1 book or less per year had estimated an average score of 7.8, which fell to 6.4 among those who habitually devour between 3 and 5 books. Finally, among the people who had read 6 or more books in the last 12 months, the value even fell to 4.5 on average.

The research is also confirmed by data from the University of Sussex which showed that reading books reduces stress by 68% and from research published in Science that confirms that identifying with the protagonists of a book develops empathy and communication skills with the others. A study by the University of Berkeley in California also states that books make more intelligent. This is because reading allows you to learn new words, broader concepts, improve your vocabulary and consequently express yourself better.

"The results of the survey do not surprise me - says Giacomo Bruno, President of Bruno Editore and well-known "book influencer "- just having time to read means having greater care of one's time and one's lifestyle. In a highly stressful world like the one we live in, the reader has a natural propensity for happiness".

"In our case, we publish books on personal and professional growth, so our audience is even more oriented towards change and self-improvement. - continues Bruno - decidedly rare talents. With our books, we have already helped 1,800,000 people to learn some new skills, from improving communication to self-esteem, from raising children to being a good professional. Those who read our books learn new skills and are certainly happier ".
