Biofriendly Corporation and its Latin American Partner, Horeb Energía y Combustibles Ecologicos (Horeb), announced today that the International Training Center for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL, Argentina) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), certified the commitment of both companies to the UN’s 2030 Agenda, prioritizing the following 5 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
SDG 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy
SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities
SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production
SDG 13 - Climate Action
SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals
The company’s commitment to SDGs 12 and 13 will include an investment into its own operations in order to become a carbon neutral team. The investment will include a full evaluation of Biofriendly and Horeb’s carbon footprint, as well as the implementation of the steps needed to become carbon neutral by 2025. Additionally, the business has committed to a water neutral footprint in its production process by 2027.
Furthermore, Biofriendly's emission-reducing fuel additive, Green Plus, was evaluated for its capacity to aid in the generation of efficient energy (under SDG 7). As part of the evaluation, the United Nations Agency, CIFAL Argentina, conducted a meta-analysis of numerous tests conducted by independent research institutes across the world. After the review, Green Plus received, within the Sustainable Development Goals, an Eco-Label for its value in aiding UN SDG’s 7 and 11. This certification recognizes that the use of Green Plus produces the following:
- 7% energy efficiency (reduces fuel consumption by 7%)
- 7% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions
- 30% reduction in emissions of particulate material (PM2.5 & PM10)
"We are proud to be a part of the UN’s incredible commitment to sustainability. The SDGs and the 2030 agenda represent hope, guidance and a shining target for those who wish to make this a cleaner planet," stated Noel Carroll, Biofriendly’s Chief Executive Officer.
