Recovery Delivered Launches Website Aimed at Revolutionizing the Way Underprivileged and Underserved Populations Receive Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Addiction

NEW YORK - May 2, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

Recovery Delivered launches website aimed at revolutionizing the way underprivileged and underserved populations receive Medication Assisted Treatment for opioid addiction.

The opioid epidemic is a national emergency. More than four million Americans, many of whom live in rural areas, are addicted to legal or illegal forms of opioids, and tens of millions live with the effects of this addiction every day. One opioid treatment has emerged with astounding results. Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) has shown a success rate of more than six times the traditional 12-step approach; MAT fulfills a vital role in an opioid recovery program. Or it could if everyone who needs the medication could access it. Unfortunately, those without insurance struggle to afford such medications, and those who live in rural areas have to drive hours to see a doctor and renew their prescription each week.

Recovery Delivered co-founders David Dobkin and Marcus Hansen have a combined 13 years in the addiction industry. In this time, they have found the three main barriers to MAT-assisted addiction recovery are cost, time spent at clinics and limited access to medications and to doctors. “The current treatment paradigm is provider-centric, meaning the patient has to get to a provider and make not only a time commitment but also a monetary commitment in most cases,” says Dobkin. “The best way to help people recover and to address the national opioid epidemic is to remove these barriers to sobriety.”

Recovery Delivered is a patient-centric model, where the treatment comes to the patient, making addiction recovery easier, accessible and affordable. This approach takes the fight against the opioid epidemic online.

Recovery Delivered has a simple -- yet critically divergent from the norm -- approach: provide low-cost Medicare/Medicaid accepted or cash pay prescriptions delivered to customers’ doors. Offer participants the option of 24/7 access to addiction counselors via chat. And enable customers to renew their prescriptions each week or month via telehealth through the Recovery Delivered website. “The telehealth offering means Recovery Delivered users are not missing work and get to spend more time focused on their new lives and their recovery, a critical part of our mission,” says Hansen.

“Our directive is to deliver medication to people at the lowest cost possible to ensure each person’s success in recovery. We do this by focusing on the masses, not the ultra rich. Our cash patients will be able to see up to a 50% decrease in their medication expenses each month.  With our delivery service, patients in rural areas can not only renew their prescriptions online but can also receive them via mail each week or month. Cost and availability should never be a reason to relapse, and we are putting our money where our mouth is when it comes to that,” says Hansen.

Phase one of the rollout of RecoveryDelivered.com has launched. As of now, patients can provide their prescriptions on the secure Recovery Delivered website to have them transferred. Recovery Delivered then bills their insurance or offers a heavily discounted cash rate on the medication. Once the patient transfers the prescriptions to the system, he or she will receive notification of the approval via text, phone call or email. The medication is then mailed within 24 hours of payment being made.
