On Oct. 11, the Washington Nationals announced that pitcher Daniel Hudson would be placed on postseason paternity leave so that he could be present for the birth of his daughter. For Hudson, the choice was obvious, but it also meant missing Game One of the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals and facing a surprising number of critics.
