Captain Eugene Ray Martin is a former officer of the US Navy who later became a merchant mariner. He currently commands sailing vessels, motor vessels, and tugboats. He is also the author of United States Ship Texas: The El Dorado Adventure and Captain Sam: The Texas Convoy.
