Metropolitan Manila Area, Dec 29, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - A religious leader is named Rev. Jun Kwang-hoon is causing controversy for allegedly leading a protest on October 22, 2019, against South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
Rev. Jun, President of the Christian Council of Korea, is currently facing an investigation by prosecutors from Seoul Jongno Police Station upon hosting the mass protest in central Seoul calling for the resignation of the aforementioned President.
Various Christian groups and churches were also alarmed by his claims such as "receiving the anointing oil" and taking control of "God's throne". He then uses these claims to convince the protesters how God disposed President Moon Jae-in to be replaced by himself.
"The Republic of Korea will revolve around Kwang-hoon Jeon for the next 10 years," he adds.
Moreover, he has been receiving condemnation statements from concerned Christian groups due to his blasphemous remarks against the Christian God.
His exact statements were "God, freeze! Don't mess with me, God. If God messes with me, he's dead. This is how I am close to God."
According to an article in the Korea Times published on 10 June 2019 titled, "Radical Pastor Calls for Impeaching President Moon" by Kang Hyun-kyung, detractors state he is politicizing Christianity for his own gain. In the same article Pastor Kim-in Ki states, Rev. Jun is "using 'fear politics' inside the Christian group to repress his opponents" which compelled him to release a "statement urging Jun to step down."
While Rev. Jun continues to deny and criticize the allegations, the prosecutors do not cease to address the charges against him including obstruction of justice, breaching assembly and demonstration of laws. They have requested arrest warrants for him and other protest leaders to forward the investigation.
