Peekaboo Moments: A Secure, Sharable Photo Album for Millennial Parents

​​When Peekaboo Moments' founder Jason Liu was a child growing up in San Francisco, his family moved around a lot. He writes, "I can remember living in 6 or 7 houses throughout my childhood and it seemed as though right when we got settled at a new house, it was time to move on to the next." However, while his surroundings were constantly changing, there was one specific item that followed his family everywhere they went.

Inside a nondescript container the size of a shoebox was a considerable stack of photos from when he was a baby. There were photos of him sleeping, laughing, being held in his mother’s arms, playing at the beach...so many precious memories that his family held dear. Each one of these memories had a handwritten note on the back. The note would contain the date and a brief sentence describing the photo: "Jason’s first time at the park," "Jason’s first smile," "Jason’s first…" This box never left his mother’s arms, and he recalls it being the only object that traveled with them everywhere they went. Despite being in a new home, the memories stayed with them always.

That box was very important to Jason's mother, and now as a father of a beautiful girl, he completely understands why. He writes, "I find myself taking photos of my daughter every chance I get in an effort to capture and preserve her most precious moments and milestones."

However, in today’s age, the thousands of photos parents take at every moment find themselves in a massive camera roll or a storage system like Google or Apple photos. Once captured, the memories are casually tossed in a massive digital pile with many of them never to be seen again.

Jason has thought a lot about the box his mother had and how to replicate its immense meaning for other parents throughout the world. That thought led him to create Peekaboo Moments: an app for parents to capture, tag, and share their baby’s special moments and memories. A digital version of the special box Jason's mother carried with her always.

Peekaboo Moments allows any parent to upload their device photos onto their baby’s timeline, to auto-sort them by age, to tag them with special notes, and to privately and securely share them with grandparents and other family members.

Jason's hope is that today, parents around the world will begin creating their very own ‘photo-boxes’ through Peekaboo Moments to capture their love digitally, to share it with their parents, family, and friends, and to carry it with them everywhere they go, no matter how often they move houses.
