Wyckoff, May 8, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Hospital workers in Ridgewood received a free lunch this week for their hard work during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Franklin Lakes Chamber of Commerce provided food to 100 healthcare workers who work in the operating rooms at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood at noon, on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

Food was donated by Franklin Lakes Chamber & Anthony Franco's Restaurant in Franklin Lakes and included penne vodka, chicken, salad, and cookies.

"Our chamber is happy to help our frontline workers," said Franklin Lakes Chamber of Commerce President John C. Morley. "Through events like this, the chamber is able to fulfill one of its main missions, which is giving back to the community."

Chamber members did not eat with the healthcare workers and dropped the food off outside of the hospital building due to state-mandated social distancing guidelines.

"We're trying whenever we can to help the community in this tough time," said Franklin Lakes Chamber of Commerce VP of Events Brandon Blanchet. "It's important for the community to know we have their back."

The lunch is part of the chamber's initiative to help frontline workers and local businesses during the coronavirus pandemic. Other initiatives the chamber is doing to help the community during the pandemic include a virtual networking event and an online fundraiser to raise money for masks and PPE equipment.

The virtual networking event, "Cocktails & Connections," will take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. on the Internet platform Zoom. The event is designed to help people to build networking connections that can one day lead to referrals for them and help them find work and/or clients.

To sign up for Cocktails & Connections, visit https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUsd-CopjMqXA61i_xONYeLR2ls-Dy6_Q. The registration deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
