MOSCOW - September 21, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

Prokhorov noted that dairy exports from the city have demonstrated strong growth over the past several years. "Moscow exported USD 8.69 million in dairy products in the first half of 2019, but that number more than doubled to USD 19.07 million for the same period of 2021," he said. "It's also significant that Moscow's share of national exports grew from 8% in 2019 to 12.6% this year."

Cheeses and tvorog (cottage cheese) account for the majority of Moscow-based dairy producers' exports. They exported USD 7.77 million of these products in the first six months of 2021, an increase of 78.3% year-on-year and more than triple the number for the same period of 2019.

According to data collected by the Mosprom Export Support Center, fermented products, including yogurt, make up the second-largest category of dairy exports. The city exported USD 6.12 million of these products in the first half of 2021, up 66.3% year-on-year and up 114.2% for the same period of 2019. Milk and cream are another significant category, and Moscow's producers exported USD 2.47 million of those products in the first half of 2021.

"25 countries bought dairy products from Moscow this year. The top importers were Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan, but dairy from the capital traveled as far as the United States, Panama, Japan, China, and India," reported Mosprom.

Mosprom experts see Uzbekistan, Armenia and Belarus as promising markets for Moscow's dairy producers to increase their exports. That said, the Center's experts note that because dairy products can spoil rapidly, there are stringent requirements for transporting them, and that a lack of proper equipment may limit exports to distant consumers.

The Mosprom Center, subordinate to the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, deals with individual support for the capital's industrial and agribusiness exports.

The experts at the Center analyze the target markets for the capital's manufacturers. Specialists study the macroeconomic report on the target market, as well as the risk profile, including entry barriers, the state of the industry in the target market, its dependence on exports and imports, and SWOT analyses of the consumer market. The experts at the Center also perform individual analyses for the companies in order to determine the most effective strategy for entering foreign markets.

In addition, as part of the buyer program, the Center's experts - free of charge and based on specific export needs - help Moscow companies with the search of counterparties and negotiations with potential buyers abroad, in addition to providing for the participation of Moscow companies in international exhibitions and business missions.
