TranSwitch announced on July 9, 2008 that it is in the process of acquiring Centillium, thus creating a new global leader in communications ICs for next-generation converged wireline and wireless networks for voice, video and data services. The combined company will have a comprehensive product portfolio for Broadband Access (encompassing both GEPON and GPON), Carrier Ethernet, Voice-over-IP and Wireless Backhaul.
