Petroleum shares post modest gains; gasoline prices fall

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) – U.S. gasoline prices edge down for the first time in days on Friday, providing a little more relief to consumers, but refiners and other energy firms in the food chain have been squeezed by lower share prices and tighter margins.
