The NPD Group’s Tod Johnson Inducted into Market Research Council Hall of Fame

Tod Johnson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The NPD Group, has been inducted into the Market Research Council Hall of Fame. Johnson was selected by the membership of the Market Research Council as this year’s “Current Practitioner” honoree. Established by the Market Research Council in 1977, the Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding members of the market, media, and survey research professions.

Johnson has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The NPD Group and its predecessors since 1971. Considered an expert in his field for more than 30 years, he is a frequent speaker at market research and management conferences and has been widely published in research-oriented publications. His expertise is in the areas of brand loyalty and brand equity. Under his leadership, NPD received seven market research methods patents covering in-home scanning, internet audience measurement, online sample intercepts, and more.

“Besides being a business entrepreneur, Tod has a passion for innovation and new product development in research. He has a history of actively investing in, developing, and nurturing people to drive innovation in the industry,” said NPD Chief Research Officer Steve Coffey, who nominated Johnson for the award.

Johnson is a former Director and Chairman of the Advertising Research Foundation and the Founding Co-Chairman of the Council for Marketing and Opinion Research. Outside of the industry, he serves as a Carnegie Mellon University Life Trustee and past chair of the Capital Campaign and as a director of a number of companies.
