PRESS RELEASE

SANTIAGO, Chile, July 19, 2007. The management of Banco de Chile (“BCH”) (NYSE: BCH) has informed the stock exchanges and the Chilean supervisory agencies that Quiñenco S.A., controlling party of the Bank, has announced that it has reached an agreement with Citigroup Inc. to establish a strategic partnership that contemplates the merger of its businesses and financial operations in Chile.
