Westell Expands Boxer™ Line of Outdoor Cabinets with the Larger 30RU and SideCar Solutions

Westell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTL)(“Westell”), a leading provider of broadband products, outside plant telecommunications equipment and conferencing services, today announced the release of its Boxer™ 30RU outdoor cabinet as well as the optional SideCar solution for the entire Boxer line. The 30RU is the latest addition to the expandable Boxer family which already includes the 10RU and 20RU cabinets. All three models have the same compact footprint of 24”W x 31.5”D and all utilize the same optional battery box.

The actively cooled, lightweight 30RU cabinet is NEMA4 compliant, making it ideal for a wide variety of outdoor applications including wireless backhaul, metro Ethernet, and broadband expansion. It offers closed loop cooling using a 1,000 watt thermostat controlled heat exchanger. This weather- and tamper-resistant cabinet can be easily wall or H-frame mounted, and it is pad mountable with the optional battery box or skirt.

The internal relay rack is 19” wide and 30RUs high with adjustable rack channels, providing up to 5 inches of adjustment to support various equipment depths. With a secure, sealed, rear-access panel for convenient field access to equipment, the Boxer 30RU outdoor cabinet is ideal for cell sites as well as neighborhood broadband distribution.

Westell’s new SideCar option for the Boxer line of cabinets adds expansion capability to all three models. With conduit access between the main cabinet and the SideCar, this is an ideal solution for either broadband cross-connect or as a separate and secure customer demarcation. The SideCar attaches to the right side of the 10RU, 20RU or 30RU Boxer cabinet and can be either field or factory installed.
