CoMedia Corporation (Pink Sheets:CMTN) announces that its wholly owned subsidiary ReQuest Audiobooks extended the scope of its agreement to have exclusive audiobook and download publishing rights in the United States and Canada for an additional 12 titles of the Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys mystery series, bringing the total to 24 titles.
Clive Fox, President of ReQuest, stated, “In addition to the traditional audiobook format we are also using the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series to launch our digital distribution network and will for the first time be offering this great series for download.” Fox added, “I can’t think of a better title to launch our digital distribution business. Because of the heightened interest in these titles and CoMedia’s digital marketing power it is the perfect time for us to introduce the downloadable version of this series.”
ReQuest plans to start with 8 titles for download and then release additional downloadable titles from time to time over the life of our agreement. In addition to the 8 Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series that ReQuest Audiobooks has already released, the release of the additional 16 titles is planned for fall and Christmas 2007 and into 2008. ReQuest will continue to sell the series and its other titles into national retail distribution through its established ongoing distribution relationships with major mass market retailers.
Clive Fox added, “Our Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series is a unique `Read-A-Long' package that has both a hardcover book and the Audiobook on CD. This series, which has enthralled generations of young readers, has seen a real resurgence in interest ever since Warner Brothers Pictures announced the nationwide release of the new Nancy Drew film along with 2 additional films to follow. 20th Century Fox has also announced a release of a film based on the Hardy Boys series for summer of 2008.”
ReQuest also sells for national distribution other titles selected from their catalogue of other top selling audiobooks that includes science fiction classics from H.G. Wells, mysteries from Ed Gorman and others. Other audiobook titles include biographies on icons Ronald Reagan, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, The Rolling Stones and the Beatles. ReQuest’s music line includes over 60 original and never-before-released historic titles, such as the Judy Garland Collection from her TV shows, Live Jazz at Club Fifteen, classic performances from the age of the Big Band and live broadcasts from Armed Forces Radio.
