American Football Alumni, Inc. announces the appointment of All-American Willie Gault and Coach Michael Greer to its Advisory Board. Willie Gault, through the development of athletic prowess and application of his skill and determination, has been able to enjoy an illustrious career in a multitude of arenas beyond the gridiron. A world class athlete, Gold medal Olympian, Super Bowl Champion, and college All-American, Willie Gaults past achievements serve as an inspiration to any athlete who dreams of reaching the next level. Coach Michael Greer has been a player, coach, trainer and scout, working at the highest pinnacle of football at the pro level. He brings a breadth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to American Football Alumni. Greer has the capability, energy and background to help advance American Football Alumni as it addresses the 20 million plus current and former players and coaches with the goal of reaching the next level as a network through its grass roots events and the members web site www.11on11.com, You are one of us if you played the game.

Willie Gault gained recognition at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he earned All-American honors in both football, as a wide receiver, and track and field, as a sprinter. In 1980 he qualified for the U.S. Olympic Track Team in the 100 and 200 meter sprints. In 1983 Gault further elevated his status as a world class athlete when he won Gold and set a world record at the Helsinki, Finland, World Championships, running the second leg of the 4 X 100 meter relay and also winning a bronze medal in the 100 meter hurdles. Gault also made the American Olympic team as a bobsledder, helping the US to win the 4-man bobsled Gold Medal at the 1988 World Championships with a world record run.

In addition to his career as an Olympian, football was still his passion. In addition to his speed, Gault was admired for his work ethic and was picked by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the NFL draft and immediately established himself as one of the leagues premier wide receivers. Gault played an integral role in the Bears' storied 1985 Super Bowl XX Championship season. He set a Super Bowl receiving record on the way to his teams victory with four receptions for 129 yards, and four kickoff returns for 49 yards. Willie went on to several more standout seasons with the Los Angeles Raiders, continuing to demonstrate his remarkable speed and his gift for making game winning plays.

As an outstanding individual and top achiever on the football field, the track, and even the luge, it is no wonder that Willie earned the Jim Thorpe All-Around Athlete Award in 1990 and back-to-back Super Stars competitions. In addition, Willie has been able to further extend his influence beyond the sports world, helping Chicagos most needy families with the creation of the Super Bowl Shuffle, a song and video that topped the charts and raised over a quarter million dollars. American Football Alumnis Willie Gault now enjoys a new career in acting, already appearing on the television show The Pretenders as Willie the Sweeper, Neds Declassified School Survival Guide, the West Wing, and many others.

While Gault adds his diverse experience from the playing field, Coach Greer adds his vision and expertise from the world of coaching and training. As a coach, Greer says, The most important and exciting thing is watching my athletes develop. Whether its the 62 pound kid who plays Pop Warner ball, whose family is beyond ecstatic he made the cover of the local paper for his accomplishments, or the 368 pound defensive lineman, Sam Adams, a Denver Broncos player and 12-year vet, who continues to refine and hone his skills, its the same sense of fulfillment and pride. Greer adds that, The joy of coaching stems from watching the beginning product transform into the final result through teaching athletes how to be the best they can be, the proper way to execute, and then supporting them through that process.

Coach Greers fifteen years of helping young players get to the next level is an important asset for our Alumni Board of Directors. Coach Greer has worked with players in the NFL, CFL, NFL-e, USFL, NIFL, on Semi-Professional, college, high school and Pop Warner teams throughout the West Coast. As a football trainer, Greer is certified in speed agility and quickness training, strength training, skills and drills training, professional athlete evaluation, athletic tutoring, college recruiting, and NIKE S.P.A.R.Q. training, an asset that will prove invaluable to future projects for American Football Alumni.

Greers multi-faceted experience in coaching, playing, training, and scouting has allowed him to participate in football on a broad and varied scale. He is the owner of Athlete Network (player and training evaluation services), V.P. of Football Operations for the Pro Football Institute, the Everett Hawks, and a Cincinnati franchise of the AF2. He is the President of Player Personnel for the NIFL, President of the Indoor Football Players Association and President of the Indoor Football Coaches Association. Clearly, Coach Greer lives and breathes football.

American Football Alumni is more than honored to welcome both Willie Gault, who proves that no challenge is too great, and Coach Michael Greer, whose drive, focus, and passionate commitment to the game will help take American Football Alumni to the next level.
