American Football Alumni Announces the Developmental Football League

The American Football Alumni, Inc. creates the Developmental Football League (DFL) and its associated website at www.GoDFL.com . For the first time the DFL allows football players the opportunity to develop and advance their skills at the pro level with the ultimate goal of playing or continuing to advance at the professional level.

The DFL provides a dynamic showcase in form of league games for developing players to be viewed at a professional level environment. All aspects of play are covered by the team concept of defense, offense and special teams, all aimed at furthering the players careers. The mission is to provide an athlete the opportunity to attract exposure, learn, improve, and to gain experience at the highest level possible.

The DFL will conduct six pro-day combines this winter to measure player skills prior to the draft. The invitees will be nominated by their schools or by applying online. These combines are expected to attract 5 to 6 thousand applicants. All information gathered on the players will be shared with the professional leagues to assist these players in reaching their goal. Eight teams will be assembled from the thousand participating in the pro-days and will be DFLs draft for its first season of play.

In addition, the DFL offers unprecedented insider access with in-person or online access to film rooms, practices, games, chalk talks, and even the playbooks. All-access will also be available through electronic media such as television, DVD, and online programming through the American Football Alumni Network (AFAN). Each player will have their individual profiles that can be accessed online by the professional leagues and their coaches and scouts.

Michael Greer, American Football Alumni Advisory Board Member and DFL Director of Football Operations stated, This is a developmental league and not a minor or a semi-pro league. We will have three levels of athletes college football players from the 2007-2008 season, free agents who are no more than two years removed from a professional football league, and free agents or college players who are no more than three years removed from their collegiate football seasons.

This is a very exciting venture, stated Curtis Watts, President of American Football Alumni. We believe that the DFL will become an integral part of the football world. Young players will be given new opportunities to be showcased. There are also many educational football opportunities that will arise from this development. For American Football Alumni we believe this will become a major part of our significance in the football world. So, as we say around our office and to all of the players already being contacted, Welcome to the next level.
