Industrial engineering magazine earns national gold award

NORCROSS, Ga. - June 16, 2023 - PRLog -- ISE magazine, the flagship periodical published monthly by the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), has earned a national gold medal award in the 2023 Azbee Awards of Excellence presented by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE).

An article spotlighting volunteer community service efforts by industrial and systems engineers (ISEs) from the August 2022 issue, "ISEs apply their skills to aid Seattle nonprofit," earned Best Case History in the Southeast Region to qualify as a national finalist. IISE is located in the region with its headquarters in Norcross, Georgia. The national award was announced at the 2023 Azbee Awards Banquet held recently in Atlanta. The annual awards by ASBPE recognize top coverage of business topics in the past year.

The story and photos by IISE's Managing Editor Keith Albertson and Digital Marketing & Communications Manager David Brandt chronicled the volunteer project by IISE members held before the Annual Conference & Expo 2022 in Seattle. The event organized by the Institute's Sustainable Development Division helped improve processes at a Habitat store in suburban Seattle.

The Institute's magazine has won Azbee Awards several years running. Last year the magazine received the Southeast Regional award for an article by Albertson in the August 2021 issue, "ISE students help deliver a shot in the arm" about a group of indus­trial engineering students at Iowa State University who applied their classroom knowledge to help create a centrally lo­cated vaccination site on campus. The article earned bronze in the Southeast Regional Case History category.
