Item 8.01 Other Events.
On September 27, 2007, Smith Micro Software, Inc. (the “Company”) announced that its Special
Meeting of Stockholders held on September 27, 2007 had been adjourned to October 11, 2007, at 10:00
a.m. at the Company’s main office, located at 51 Columbia, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656, in order to allow
additional time to solicit proxies from those stockholders who had not voted on the proposal to
approve an amendment and restatement of the Company’s 2005 Stock Option/Stock Issuance Plan to
increase the maximum number of shares of common stock that may be issued under the 2005 Plan. The
record date for stockholders entitled to vote remains August 3, 2007. A copy of the press release
issued by the Company is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated herein by reference.
