On September 20, 2018, Unilever N.V. communicated the following in response to a press query:
The dividend fee payable on the new ADSs of New NV going forward is subject to a maximum of US$0.05 per ADS (charged as US$5.00 on every 100 ADSs held or fraction thereof). This is the same maximum fee that holders of PLC ADSs can be charged prior to Simplification and is in line with market rates. In fact, the actual fee payable currently by ADS holders is US$0.02 per ADS and Unilever intends to maintain this lower fee for the 5 years following Simplification.
As described in the US Prospectus, dividend substitute payments are treated in the same manner as ordinary dividend payments for U.S. federal income tax purposes, and all dividends will be eligible for the reduced rate of tax on qualified dividends.
